Dorothea H. A. Fischer, 102 of Waterloo, went to be with her Heavenly Savior on Wednesday, December 28, 2016 at Columbus Health and Rehab.
Dorothea was born on September 5, 1914 at home in Marshall, WI, the daughter of Herman and Minnie (Hensler) Holzhueter. She was raised on the family farm and on September 28, 1940, she married Lester R. Fischer at St. Paul's Lutheran Church of Marshall. The couple enjoyed 37 years of marriage until his death in 1977. Dorothea was a kind, honest, hardworking lady and even waited tables at Cindy Lou's Restaurant, retiring on her 94th Birthday. She was a long-time member of St. John Lutheran Church, loved to play cards, and was the life of the party.
Dorothea is survived by: her Daughter Gladys (Richard) Peter of Waterloo; Grandchildren Kirk (Tammy) Peter of Middlton and Becky (Dale) Veto of Marshall; Great-Grandchildren Kennedy Peter, Morgan Peter and Macy Veto. She is also survived by a number of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
She is preceded in death by: her parents, husband, Brother Bill Holzhueter, and Sisters Grace Hillemann and Elsie Holzhueter.
A Funeral service will be held at 2:00PM on Monday, January 2, 2017 at St. John Lutheran Church of Waterloo with Rev. James Adomeit and Rev. Thomas Wilsmann presiding. Visitation will be on Monday from 12:00PM until the time of service at the church. Burial will follow the service at Oak Hill Cemetery in Waterloo.
