Donald M. Nehls, 84 of Watertown, died on Thursday, March 19, 2015 at Zinzendorf Hall.
Don was born on July 18, 1930 in Watertown the son of Felix and Lillian (Koepke) Nehls. He attended Lincoln School and was a 1948 graduate of Watertown High School. He joined the U.S. Air Force in 1948 and served in Japan, Germany on the Berlin Airlift, and Alaska. On August 19, 1950 he married Beatrice Kuckkan at St. Mark's Lutheran Church. Don was a Bricklayer and Job Forman for 40 years. He was a member of Bricklayer Local #21 Watertown for over 50 years. He also served as a Volunteer Fireman in Watertown for 35 years. He was a member of the American Legion and a member of St. Luke's Lutheran Church of Watertown and served on St. Luke's School Board. Don enjoyed pheasant and deer hunting and just going up north to relax and enjoy nature.
He is survived by: his Son Michael of Clyman, Daughter Patricia (Stan) Golden of Waterloo; 5 Grandchildren Meaghan, Aubrey, Leslie, Russell, and Amy. Don is also survived by a number of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Don is preceded by: his Wife Beatrice on October 8, 2005, Daughter Susan, Sons Stanley and David, 3 brothers, and 2 sisters.
Memorials in Don's honor may be made to the St. Luke's Lutheran Church Debt Fund, the ROC, or the charity of one's choice.
A funeral service will be at 11:00AM on Thursday, March 26, 2015 at St. Luke's Lutheran Church of Watertown with the Rev. Anthony Schultz, Rev. Mark Gartner, and Rev. Tim Mueller presiding. Visitation will be on Thursday at 9:00AM until the time of service at the church. Burial will be at Lutheran Cemetery.
