Waterloo -- Donald D. Faultersack passed away on Saturday, Oct. 4, 2014 at home surrounded by his family.
Donald was born in Hancock, WI on July 21, 1930, and lived there until his junior year in high school, when his family moved to Waterloo, and he graduated from Waterloo High School in 1947. He met and married Jean Schutz and they lived in Waterloo their 65 years of marriage.
Don is preceded in death by his parents Leona and Walter Faultersack; brothers Leonard, Norman, and Vilas; sister Dorothy Byom; and infant son Dennis.
Survivors include his wife Jean; sister Violet Monroe; his sons, Richard Faultersack of Waterloo, and David (Marcia) Faultersack of San Juan Capistrano, CA; and daughter Debra (Paul) Buechner of Sun Prairie; grandchildren Tony (Mary Grace) Keiner, Josh (Stefanie) Lamar, Matthew (Heather) Lamar, Wade Lucas, Patrick (Kelly) Buechner, Rebecca Tyler; great grandchildren Shaelee Keiner, Rose Keiner, Kensington Lamar, Keagan Lamar, Georgia Lamar, Alice Lamar, Mercedes Haugen, Haylie Tyler, Gabriella Buechner, and Nathaniel Buechner.
Don was a hard worker and retired from Schweiger Furniture. He was an expert woodworker and made many furniture items -- tables, chairs, headboards, jewelry boxes, and garden arches-- for his home and others, and earned the Popular Mechanics Golden Hammer Award for the china cabinet he built, incorporating beveled glass in its design. Don and Jean traveled the world -- throughout Europe, Australia, Egypt, the Middle East, Mexico, New Zealand -- as well as the 50 states.
At his request there will be no funeral, and his family requests no flowers, but suggest contributing to Rainbow Hospice or to a charity of your choice.
Jean and family want to thank Rainbow Hospice staff who were very helpful and compassionate with all aspects of Don's care.
