Derald D. Schaal, 74, of Watertown passed away peacefully at home on Sunday, January 20, 2019.
Derald was born on April 15, 1944 in Vandalia, Illinois to Herald and Claira Schaal. He worked for Fisher Barton making blades and putting together fishing lures. Derald and his brother recently celebrated being with Bethesda for over 65 years! He enjoyed being around the residents that he lived with, and his many friends. In Deralds free time you could find him playing with his stuffed animals and dinosaurs, having snowball fights, and enjoying a root beer float. He was known to be a prankster and a fashion guru who had a major love for clothing and slippers. Above all Derald was known for his contagious laugh and smile; he loved everyone around him and will be dearly missed by those who were blessed to have known him.
Derald is survived by his brothers Gerald Schaal of Watertown and Eugene Schaal of Illinois. He is preceded in death by his parents.
The family would like to express their appreciation to Bethesda Lutheran Communities for their care and compassion for Derald.
A Memorial service for Derald will be held at 10am on January 30, 2019 at St. Luke’s Ev. Lutheran Church in Watertown.
