Dennis John Hierl, 51, of Sun Prairie, Wis., went home to be with his Savior, Monday, February 2 after a long battle with brain cancer.
Dennis was born in Milwaukee, Wis. on May 31, 1963, the son of Charles and Vada (Schultz) Hierl. He married Ellen Roehl in 2003 at Fellowship Baptist Church in Watertown and they adopted Brooklyn Jiani Hierl in 2012. Dennis graduated from New Berlin High School. He was a graduate of Milwaukee School of Engineering and Carroll University. He was formerly employed by Cooper Power Systems and currently was an Information Technology Manager for American Family Insurance in Madison, Wis. In 2012 he earned his Master Certificate of Project Management from the University of Wisconsin, Madison. Dennis loved helping others. He was the 'go to guy' for his friends when they needed help with their computers or a hand with a project. He was actively involved in the churches he attended. He volunteered for events through UW International Student Ministry and enjoyed the friendships he established with the international students. Dennis was a member of High Point Church in Madison, Wisconsin. Dennis' mission in life was that his life would bring honor and glory to Jesus Christ. His love for the people in his life was an outgrowth of his love for his Savior.
Dennis is survived by his wife Ellen and daughter Brooklyn of Sun Prairie, mother, Vada Hierl of Waukesha, siblings Charles Hierl, Jr. of Neenah, Donald Hierl of Waukesha, David (Chris) Hierl of Genesee, Elaine (Donald) Winter of Waukesha, Claudia Dodge of Mukwanago, Randall (Gail) Hierl of Muskego, Marty Hierl of Fifield, Brian Hierl of West Allis, Glen (Susan) Hierl of Wauwatosa, and Mark (Barb) Hierl of North Prairie. He is also survived by his in-laws, Gladys (Dolly) Roehl and Donald and Karen McEvoy of Watertown, his nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
He was proceeded in death by his father, Charles Hierl, his sister Vada (Dolly) Hierl, and sisters-in-law Judy Hierl and Lynn Hierl. In lieu of flowers, gifts may be given to establish an education fund for his daughter Brooklyn.
A visitation will be held at High Point Church in Madison on Friday, February 6, from 4-8 pm and on Saturday, February 7, from 10 am until the time of services. The funeral service will be Saturday, February 7, at 11 am at High Point Church. Burial will be at 3:30 pm at Oak Hill Cemetery in Watertown, Wisconsin.
