David F. Steuerwald, 69 of Watertown, went to be with his Heavenly Savior on Wednesday, December 16, 2015, surrounded by his loving family.
He was born on July 20, 1946, in Sheboygan, WI, the son of Floyd and Loretta (Muhs) Steuerwald. He was a 1964 graduate of Random Lake High School and earned his BA from Bob Jones University and his MDiv. from Central Seminary. On August 10, 1968, he married Layna Stewart in Mullens, WV. The couple was blessed with 47 years of marriage, and David served in many pastoral positions in Minnesota, New York, Pennsylvania, and Wisconsin. David was a passionate soul winner for Christ and considered it a privilege to share the gospel. He had a deep and selfless care for the people that God put in his life, especially the unsaved. David, a dynamic grandfather who was totally devoted to his family, would travel any distance, in any weather to cheer on his children or grandchildren in their various activities. David was also a diehard Packer, who enjoyed being outdoors marveling at God's creation. Above all other interests, David always put his family as his number one priority. He will be deeply missed.
He is survived by: his wife Layna Steuerwald; children Jeffrey (Jessica) Steuerwald of Murfreesboro, TN, Stephen (Shannon) Steuerwald of Newberry Springs, CA, Kara (Steve) Nichter of Kenosha, and Angela (Jeremy) Garber of Milwaukee; 11 beloved grandchildren Jenna, Megan, Devon, Clayton, Courtney, Noah, Aiden, Ezra, Tytus, Mackenzie, and Jack; brothers Jim, Tom, and John; sisters Pat Chelmo, Mary Campbell, Virginia Culver, and Jewel Butler. Dave is also survived by a number of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
David is preceded in death by his parents and his brother Michael.
A funeral service will be held at 2:30PM on Sunday, December 20, 2015, at Calvary Baptist Church with the Rev. Dr. Robert J. Loggans presiding. Visitation will be on Sunday from 1:00PM until the time of service at the church. Burial will take place at Ebenezer Cemetery on Monday morning.
