David Morgan

David E. Morgan, 88 of Watertown, died on Tuesday, March 14, 2017 at Marquardt Health Center of Watertown.
A funeral will be held at 11:00AM on Thursday, March 23, 2017 at St. Mark's Lutheran Church in Watertown with Rev. Peter Wells officiating. Burial will follow in the Richwood Cemetery.
Visitation will be on Thursday from 9:00AM until the time of service at St. Mark's Lutheran Church.
Dave is survived by his three children: Craig (Jill) of New Ulm, Minnesota, Dean of Winona, Minnesota, Margaret (Shawn) Wolf of Watertown; 8 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; brothers Bob (Anne), Ed (Jean), Irv (Pat), and Chuck. Dave is also survived by a number of nieces, nephews and other relatives.
He is preceded in death by his parents, wife, Dorothy and sister Jan Schuler.
Dave was born on April 19, 1928 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. He was the son of Earl and Esther (Otto) Morgan. He was a graduate of Milwaukee East High School and was a member of their state championship football team. On September 15, 1956, he married Dorothy Steineke in Ripon, Wisconsin. They raised three children. He worked as a locomotive engineer for his entire 42 year career on the Milwaukee Road and Soo Line. It's been said he is one of the last men to shovel coal for steam locomotives. Dave's faith in Christ was his top priority. He loved being outdoors enjoying God's creation, especially his evergreen trees. Dave's hobbies included collecting political buttons, model railroading and anything connected with sports. He also enjoyed his time and conversations with the Hardee's gang. People were drawn to him by his high moral character and larger than life heart. Dave's sense of humor was appreciated by many. Dave treasured his time spent with family. His faith in Christ was his top priority followed by his love and dedication to his family.
