Daniel Schwark

Daniel S. “Red” Schwark, 83 of Waterloo passed away on Monday, November 4, 2019 at UW Hospital in Madison.

Daniel was born on July 3, 1936 in Berlin, WI the son of Otto and Ethel (Hayes) Schwark. He married the love of his life Audrey Maertz on March 2, 1957 in Dubuque Iowa and the couple enjoyed 46 years of marriage before her passing in 2004. Daniel and Audrey loved going dancing together. Daniel proudly worked as a steelworker for Crepaco for 46 years before his retirement. He took much pride in his yard and was known for having a beautiful garden. In his free time Daniel loved cooking, he was known for his German potato salad and Goulash, he especially enjoyed having friends and family over so he could cook for them, most times 5 course meals. He enjoyed tinkering and fixing things especially tractors, gardening, woodworking, and was always willing to give a helping hand to anyone in need.  Above all he enjoyed spending time with his family and friends and will be greatly missed by those who were blessed to have known him.

Daniel is survived by his children Nancy (Jeff) Robbins of Waterloo, Steve Schwark of Johnson Creek, Jeff (Diane Buss) Schwark of Watertown, and Lynn (Myron) McMahon of Waterloo. 12 Grandchildren and 24 Great-Grandchildren. Brothers Donald Schwark of Cottage Grove and Robert Schwark of Sun Prairie, sisters Lorraine Koepke of Ypsilanti, MI, Betty Bradley of Omro, and Diane (Don) Bauer of Oshkosh. He is also survived by a number of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and lifelong friends.

He is preceded in death by his parents, wife Audrey, son Timothy, and sister Donna Mae Besaw.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00am on Saturday, November 9, 2019 at Holy Family Parish-Waterloo Campus with Fr. Jorge Miramontes presiding. Visitation will be held at the church from 9:00am until the time of service. Burial will follow the service at Washington cemetery in the Town of Portland.
