Charles R. “Chuck” Hoffman, 85 of Watertown, passed away on Thursday, August 22, 2024, at his home in Watertown.
Chuck was born on November 25, 1938, in Terre Haute, Indiana, the son of Charles G. and Lena M. (Gilbert) Hoffmann. He graduated from UW-Milwaukee with a degree in Economics, and read the Wall Street Journal regularly to continue his learning. On September 8, 1962, Chuck was united in marriage with Kathryn Ottum and the couple shared 54 years of marriage until her passing in 2016. Kathy and Chuck attended Immanuel Lutheran Church of Watertown. Chuck was a naturally curious person who always took time to think about and consider the world around him. He took each new opportunity as a chance to learn more about others and himself. Reading was one of his favorite pastimes, and he would often share details about his current read with his friends. His friendships and social circle was very important to him as well. Whether it be spending time with Pete, Olivia and Bill at Higgins Auto, or with Dee and Tim at Riverview WaterTrap, he relished in conversation and fine tuned his humor. At the end of the day, he loved his home and spent time enjoying music and doing projects.
Chuck is survived by: his children Matthew (Shannon) Hoffman and Pam (Raymond) Muniz; Sharon (Bob) Nigbor (sister), Ethan Roberts (Son-in-law), grandchildren Patrick (Veronica) Hoffman, Claire Hoffman, Xander Roberts, Logan Roberts, Kaylee Roberts, Eliza Adamson, Josie Adamson. He is also survived by extended family friends Dee and Tim Bergdoll, Carol Saunders and Pete (Veronica) and Olivia Higgins.
Chuck is preceded in death by his parents, wife Kathy, brother Bob and daughter Tracey.
A Memorial Service will be held at 12:30 PM on Thursday, August 29, 2024, at the Immanuel Lutheran Church of Watertown with Rev. Katie Van Der Linden presiding. Visitation will be held from 11:00 AM until the time of service at the church.
Chuck loved flowers of all kinds. In lieu of flowers, donations in his name may be made to Immanuel Lutheran Church or to your local library.
