Carl A. Schroeder, 88 of Waterloo, passed away on Sunday, December 4, 2016 at his home.
Carl was born on October 14, 1928 in Watertown, WI, the Son of Alvin and Helen (Kropf) Schroeder. On May 15, 1954 he married Betty Doschadis at the Watertown Moravian Church. Carl was a provider and protector and honored his wife, Betty, even after her death on April 22, 2016. He loved John Deere, but worked on all things tractor as an Agriculture Mechanic with Hansen Bros. Implement and Brooks Tractor for 40 plus years. Carl was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church of Waterloo for more than 50 years. His devotion to Christ was known by all who knew him. At St. Paul's he served as Sunday School Teacher, Council Member, Communion Assistant, Head Usher, and knew how to ring the bell the "right" way. Carl was a thoughtful, soft-spoken man who didn't need acknowledgement for his deeds. He was selfless and gave of his time and talents freely. His ability to not just teach, but transfer knowledge was a remarkable gift, especially when it came to 2 cylinder tractors. Carl Alvin Schroeder will be dearly missed by his children, all of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, the local farming community and others who knew him.
He survived by: his Children Debra (James Cummings) Nelson of Milton, Lyndon Schroeder of Waterloo, and Guy (Cherie) Schroeder of Verona; 4 Grandchildren Elise (Ryan), Ryan (Gabriella), Alaina and Isaac; a Great-Granddaughter Mia; 4 Sisters Lorraine Yahn, Gladys Ninmann, Elna Braeker, and Karol (Donald) Wesemann. Carl is also survived by a number of nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
He is preceded in death by his wife, parents, Sister Hazel, and Brother Edwin.
In lieu of flowers, memorials in Carl's honor to St. Paul's Lutheran Church or the Waterloo Fire and Rescue Squad would be appreciated.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00AM on Monday, December 12, 2016 at St. Paul's Lutheran Church of Waterloo with Rev. Robb Kosky presiding. Visitation will be on Monday from 9:00AM until the time of service at the church. Carl and Betty will be laid to rest at Washington Cemetery in the Town of Portland following the service.
