Carl Hoefler

Carl A. Hoefler 70, of Watertown passed away on Wednesday March 27, 2013, due to a lingering illness.
Carl was born in Sheboygan on Feb. 7, 1943 the son of Andrew and Irene (Fleishner) Hoefler. He attended Hilltop School and was a 1961 graduate of Watertown High School. He joined the National Guard in 1961. He was a member of the Charlie Company of the Red Arrow Division and was later called to Active Duty, during the Cuban Crisis. He was a recipient of the Berlin Crisis Air Ribbon Award. He worked for his Uncle Roman Hoefler in Butler from 1965-67. He married Diane Brandenstein on Feb. 4, 1967. She preceded him in death on June 24, 2009. He joined his father in operating Andrew Hoefler Excavating from 1967 until Andy's retirement. He then operated the business known as Carl Hoefler Excavating until 2009. Carl was most known for his generosity to his customers and for assigning many local small Businesses's. He was a member of St. Mark's Lutheran Church, WOWRA, and POWTS and had a Master Plumber Sewer Restricted license.
He is survived by: two daughters Kathy Hoefler and Jennifer Hoefler; four grandchildren Adam Huber, Elliot Hoefler, Oliver Hoefler, and Emily Huber; four brothers James (Jean Hoefler, Richard (June) Hoefler, Roger (Phyllis) Hoefler and Michael (Debbie) Hoefler; sister Patricia (Jack) Stark; brother-in-laws John (Jack) Brandenstein and David (Tracy) Brandenstein; also survived by a number of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, mother and father-in-law Harold and Delores Niedfeldt, sister-in-law Bonny Grinwald and special Uncle and Aunt Roman and Hildegard Hoefler, who helped train him in the excavating field. Memorials to the family or Rainbow Hospice would be appreciated.
A memorial service will held 11:00 AM on Wednesday April 3, 2013 at St. Mark's Ev. Lutheran Church with the Rev. James E. Werner officiating. Visitation will be held on Tuesday 4-7 PM at the Pederson-Nowatka Funeral Home and on Wednesday 10:00 AM until the time of service at the church.
