Betty J. Schroeder 85, of Waterloo, passed away peacefully on Friday April 22, 2016 at Marquardt Health Center of Watertown.
Betty was born on November 21, 1930 in Waterloo, WI, the daughter of Leslie and Grace (Heiman) Doschadis. Betty graduated from Watertown High School and later attended UW-Whitewater. Betty married the love of her life, Carl Schroeder on May 15, 1954 at the Watertown Moravian Church. Betty worked the majority of her life as a Bookkeeper with Kress Packing, Waterloo Medical Clinic, Waterloo Elementary and Jim's Cheese. She served as a Coordinator with the Meals on Wheels of Waterloo. Betty was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Waterloo. She sang in the choir, served as a member of the Women's Circle, and volunteered with Sunday school. Betty was one of the last members of the WELCA at St. Paul's. Betty loved to cook and bake. She was an avid knitter - making hundreds of newborn baby caps donated to area hospitals. Betty loved and was committed to her family and will be missed by all who knew her.
Survivors include: Husband Carl Schroeder of Waterloo; Children Debra (Jim Cummings) Nelson of Milton, Lyndon Schroeder of Waterloo and Guy (Cherie) Schroeder of Verona; Four Grandchildren Elise (Ryan), Ryan (Gabriella), Alaina, and Isaac. She is also survived by a number of other relatives and friends. Betty is preceded in death by her parents.
In lieu of flowers, memorials to St. Paul's Lutheran Church or Marquardt Hospice would be appreciated.
The family would like to express their deepest thanks for the loving care provided to Betty during her stay at Marquardt.
Memorial service will be held at 11:00AM on Wednesday April 27, 2016 at St. Paul's Lutheran Church of Waterloo with the Rev. Robb Kosky presiding. Visitation will be held at the church on Wednesday from 9:30AM until the time of service. Burial at a later date will be in the Washington Cemetery in the Town of Portland.
