Sunday, January 05, 2014, The Lord welcomed our brother Basil into his arms.
Basil Walter Haack was born July 10th, 1941 in Plainview, Minnesota to Emil J and Loretta R (Adler) Haack. He lived his early life in Plainview, attending the local parochial school, and he was baptized at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Plainview. He enjoyed riding his bicycle and driving the tractor on the family farm.
In 1956 Basil came to live at Bethesda Lutheran Home in Watertown, Wisconsin. He enjoyed working on the Bethesda farm while it was still operating. During this time, Basil attended daily chapel as well as bible study. Basil's faith in our Lord Jesus Christ was important to him. Basil worked with his friend Dave in the maintenance department at Bethesda, as well as in the laundry department. He lived at Bethesda for 51 years, and in his later years lived in Madison, WI.
He is survived by two brothers Orland of Lake City, MN, Randy (LeAnn) of Winona MN, and six sisters, LaVonne (Duane) Bakken of Blooming Prarie MN, Betty Ziemann of Anoka, MN, Kathleen Alvord of MN, Verdetta (Dave) Tusa of Owatonna MN, Carol (Danny) Carolan of Austin, MN, and Rosemary (Robert) Jonsgaard of Minnesota City, MN, numerous nieces and nephews, and an aunt Ileen (Burt) Jahns of Wabasha, MN. He is survived by good friends Dorothy Nico and Rachel Krueger, born of Watertown. He was preceded in death by his parents, and a brother Robert in Infancy.
Funeral service will be held 11:00 AM on Saturday, January 11th at Good Shepherd Lutheran church with Rev. David Groth presiding. Visitation will be held at the church at 10:00 AM until the time of service. Burial will be in the Lutheran Cemetery, Watertown, WI.
