Manuel “Manny” D. Fernandez Sr, 75, of Lyons, Illinois passed away on Thursday, December 13, 2018 at Kindred Hospital in Northlake, Illinois.
Manny was born on February 5, 1943 in Chicago, Illinois the son of Peter and Bertha (Garcia) Fernandez. He married the love of his life Jacquleyn Haugh on June 18, 1966 in Brookfield, IL and the couple enjoyed 35 years together until her death in 2001. Manny spent most of his life working on cars and restoring older vehicles to beautiful masterpieces. Manny was known by many as “The Legend of Lyons” and that legacy will live on for many years to come. In his free time you could find Manny at car shows, local race tracks, riding his beautiful Harley Davidson, or watching his beloved Chicago White Sox, but above all he enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. The legend touched the lives of everyone around him and he will be greatly missed by those who were fortunate to have known him.
Survivors include sons, Manny Fernandez Jr. and Jim Fernandez Sr. 6 Grandchildren: Rebecca, Amanda (Bo), Jimmy Jr., Nicholas, Alexander, and Amy. 4 Great-grandchildren: Adam, Madeline, Juliette, and Asher. 3 siblings: Peter (Barbara) Fernandez, Linda (Charlie) Miller, and Andrew (Cindy) Fernandez, and brother in-law Marvin Wogronic. Manny is also survived by a number of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Manny is preceded in death by his parents, wife, and sister Olga Wogronic.
